More than a bike ride
More than a bike ride
Canary Foundation was founded in 2004 by Don Listwin, a successful high-tech executive who lost his mother to misdiagnosed ovarian cancer. Driven by an engineering mindset, Don was determined to understand the cause of such a grievous misdiagnosis. In search of an answer, he began researching scientific progress in cancer detection. Don discovered that although almost $10 billion is spent annually on cancer research in the United States, the vast majority is allocated to developing new cancer treatments and caring for patients.
In addition to the registration fee, each rider must meet the following fundraising requirements to participate:
The funds may be raised starting anytime after registration, and continue until the day of event, Sept. 30, 2016. You may contribute toward your fundraising requirement at the event, but payment must be in the form of a check or credit card, not cash.
The fundraising link is “hard coded” to your profile. All funds raised with your link will be attributed under your name.
Cyclists may start anytime during the day beginning at 6 am. Those riding in the longer events, like the century, will want to start early enough to return with plenty of time to enjoy the food and festivities at the CanaryVillage. The village closes down at 5 pm.
We recommend the following start times based on length and difficulty of each route:
Though we ride together for early cancer detection, we do not do a mass start. We provide suggested start times, to provide you with ample time to complete your ride before the course closes.
